Still up in the North West visiting the mother-in-law, so took meself and my 7 and 10 year old sons to the beach for a bit of kitebuggying.

I couldn't fit many buggy kites in the car (as it was loaded with LEIs), so the only suitable kite I had was a 1.7m Sting.

Wind was Force 4ish, so I got in the buggy, and then one of my sons got on the buggy as well.

Amazing, how does a 1.7m kite manage to pull two people on a buggy in a force 4 I don't know, but we got going and although couldn't go upwind, did manage to keep our ground. The boys did the steering and I flew the kite.

What a laugh!

Then walked upwind to see some numpty who had driven his car into one of the empty lagoons you get at Ainsdale, and got it well and truly stuck in the mud. Unfortunately, the Ainsdale rangers were too nice, and got a tractor to pull him out, which was a shame.

As we were now approx 300 yards upwind of the car, the boys wanted to have a go at buggying back to the car. All three of us got on the buggy, and with a lot of working the kite, we got back to the car without any walking.

Good news is that the kids liked it, so I need to develop their skills, and then persuade them to get into kitesurfing :-)

Five stars, as smiles all round.
